Benefits of Corian

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Over 30 years ago, DuPont discovered an innovative way to blend natural materials with acrylic resin to create a unique solid surface product called Corian. Ever since that day, companies have been coming up with new and interesting ways to utilize this dynamic material.

Because of its versatility and more than 100 tones and patterns, A.S.S.T. uses Corian for everything from modular vanities and wall panels to bathroom partitioning systems and sculptures. With the help of thermoforming, Corian conforms to your imagination and your designs. Intricate patterns and textures can be carved into Corian, allowing you to completely customize your next project.

Virtually seamless Corian and A.S.S.T. combine to create subtle, inviting backdrops for any environment, whether it is a retail, education, entertainment, corporate, or even a healthcare venue.

Benefits of Corian Include:

Durability: Color and patterns run all the way through the material and thus cannot wear away.

Easy to Clean: Corian is non-porous and thus resistant to stains, making it easy to clean.

Hygienic: With no pours, mold and mildew have nowhere to hide.

Scratch Resistant: Should any damage occur, it can be repaired right on-site, saving both labor and resources.

Completely Renewable: This makes Corian extremely environmentally friendly.

Non-Toxic: Even when exposed to flame, Corian is one of the least toxic materials around.

Heat Resistant: This is why Corian is one of the most popular countertop materials around.

Corian is the perfect material for every room, from the kitchen to the bathroom and everywhere in between.

How Interior Design Affects Communication and Mood

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

A room needs to be more than just a room. The architecture needs to be able to influence the mind and manipulate the senses. But that’s a mighty tall order for a room, right? Well, not really.

Architects have long intuited that the places we inhabit can affect our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. And you know what, they were right. Visual-aesthetic surroundings have significant effects on persons exposed to them.

Lighting, perception of space, and color all play a role in how people perceive a given room and how that room will affect their mood.

Lighting: It can affect the way a person acts and feels. A study conducted by the College of Humanities and Sciences at Nihon University in Tokyo found that dim lighting evokes a more relaxed feeling in people. Conversely, bright light causes a sense of uneasiness. This is why many fast food places, looking for quick turnaround, utilize bright lighting.

Color: One could write books on the way color affects mood. But as we just have a few hundred words, here is the quick version…

•      Red is intense and attracts attention.

•      Blue is relaxing and evokes trust.

•      Green is linked with nature and is easy on the eyes.

•      Yellow can strain the eye but at the same time can increase concentration.

•      Paler colors are more likely to enhance the perception of space in a room.

The secret is to find a color that best accents the purpose of your room.

Perception of space: Crowded rooms are more likely to have an adverse effect on mood than spacious rooms. Factors that are likely to increase the perception of being closed in or crowded include low ceilings, small windows and lack of natural light, stuffy overheated rooms, rooms that are narrow or rooms where there is too much furniture and other items crammed into the available space.

So next time you are designing a room, take a moment to consider the impact each element will have on your customer/client’s mood. And if you are looking for the perfect addition to your new room, turn to A.S.S.T for help.

A.S.S.T.’s solutions are perfect for a variety of different industries, and we’re always willing to meet with a potential client to determine how our products and services can meet their needs. We bond and insure all of our work, so you don’t have to worry about those details.
